Sword Album Discography

By all indications, this was Word's attempt to run a budget label. The content tended to be reissues of Word or Canaan albums, the artwork was minimal and of the "cut and paste" variety, and the graphics were sometimes sloppy. Vinyl was...ahem...less than stellar.

The S-1400 series was mono, and the SS-2400 series was stereo, with corresponding last two digits. All record numbers, both mono and stereo, had a suffix of "-LP", so for example, the full catalog number of the stereo version of 2421 was SS-2421-LP.

The label was red with black print. The logo was at the top of the label, and featured a stylized "S" followed by "WORD" in block capitals, with a sword pointing downward through the "O".

The Sword Records which operated from 1964-1967 was apparently a subsidiary of Word Records in Waco, Texas. It should not be confused with the Sword Records started in the 1970s by the Mark Five company.
