Time-Life Album Discography, Part 5:
Great Men of Music Series

By Mike Callahan, David Edwards, and Patrice Eyries
Last update: February 3, 2008

The Great Men of Music series included 30 volumes, each illustrating the music of an individual composer. The volumes were packaged as four-record box sets, each with a 24-page booklet devoted to the life and works of the composer. The dates given below are for the initial offering of the series. The series remained in print for some time, and Time-Life made some minor additions and corrections to the booklets over the following years, updating the copyright date.

Labels for this series used the same basic design and layout, with the background colors of the labels matching the color of the box set. In this case, the Mozart volume, STL-542, was brown, as were the label and the cover of the booklet inside. Booklet size was about 9x12 inches, and featured full color photos or reproductions of paintings, etc.
