Atlantic Album Discography, Part 6
SD-7200 "Superstar" Series (1970-1974)

By David Edwards, Patrice Eyries, and Mike Callahan
Last update: October 6, 2005

The 7200 series started while the 8000 series was still being used. Obviously, the 7200 series was a "superstar" series at the start, with Atlantic's top selling stars Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young (and their solo albums), Led Zeppelin, Aretha Franklin, etc. After they discontinued the 8000 series in 1972, the 7200 series remained as the main series for the hot pop acts.

The 7200 series mainly used the green and red/orange label which started in 1969. As time went on, Atlantic began using special reproductions of their early 1950s yellow label, along with similar special labels using the same design, but in either red or silver. Presumably, all tracks on the albums in this series are stereo. If we know of any non-stereo tracks, these will be indicated.

We would appreciate any additions or corrections to this discography. Just send them to us via e-mail. Both Sides Now Publications is an information web page.
