The ABC Labels...

ABC and its subsidiary labels (Back Beat, BluesWay, Command, Dunhill, Probe) put out relatively few stereo singles, and even those were in the last half of 1970.

We would appreciate any additions or corrections to this discography. Just send them to us via e-mail. Both Sides Now Publications is an information web page. We are not a catalog, nor can we provide the records listed below. We have no association with any of these record labels. Should you be interested in acquiring the 45s listed in this discography (which are all out of print), we suggest you see our Frequently Asked Questions page and follow the instructions found there. Label Scan

Number - Release Date - Artist - Songs

ABC

Apparently all ABC promos and commercial copies were mono until they released a mono/stereo version of B.B. King's "Hummingbird" in July, 1970. Even after that, though, stereo singles, whether commercial or promotional, were few. Like subsidiary Dunhill, the commercial stereo singles first appeared in October, 1970.

Commercial stereo singles:
11279 - 10/70 - Country Coalition - Take To The Mountains/Age Of Angels
11280 - 10/70 - B.B. King - Chains And Things/King's Special
11286 - 12/70 - Country Coalition - Keepin' Free/Think About Now

Promotional stereo singles:
11268 - 7/70 - B.B. King - Hummingbird (M/S)
11278 - 9/70 - Lancelot Link & The Evolution-Revolution - Sha-La Love You (M/S)
11279 - 10/70 - Country Coalition - Take To The Mountains/Age Of Angels
11280 - 10/70 - B.B. King - Chains And Things/King's Special

DUNHILL

Dunhill held out with mono singles and promos until October, 1970. When they went to stereo, however, they really turned on the spigot, as most of the commercial singles for the rest of 1970 were stereo. After this short spurt, however, stereo singles became sporadic until the summer of 1973.
