Gone Label Album DiscographyIt's clear from the first dozen albums issued on this label that it was to be Goldner's jazz outlet (as
in,
"real gone, man.") Some of the rock and roll groups eventually showed up on the label's singles,
culminating with the wonderful Ral Donner album as the first -- and last -- rock and roll album for the
label.

The early label was maroon with silver print, with the Gone logo on top. There were few known stereo
album issues on this label. The Yugene Smith album (LP 5002) was issued in "super sonic stereo."
Other
recordings were obviously made in stereo, however, as the Ral Donner material began being reissued in
stereo starting in 1988. That year, an LP appeared on Murray Hill Records which had the first-time
stereo
for several songs. Due to a mastering error, many of the songs had little separation, however. The CD
reissues in stereo were much better in terms of sound and separation. The most comprehensive CD
set
was the 1991 2-CD set from Sequel in England called The Complete Ral Donner, 1959-1962
[Sequel NED CD 190], for which Bob Hyde did the liner notes and discography and Walter Devenne did
the reissue production. Although "Girl Of My Best Friend" is mono on that CD (and all others), it
features
"I Didn't Figure On Him," "She's Everything," and others in stereo, including alternate stereo takes of
"(What A Sad Way) To Love Someone" and "You Don't Know What You've Got."
The Gone label of the early 1960s (shown at the top of this page) has eight ovals radiating out from the
center in alternating tans and pinks, with "GONE" printed in 4 of the ovals along the outside radius.

RLP 22437 - Takin' Care of Business, Vol. 2 - Ral Donner [late 1970s?] An interesting
and
perhaps unauthorized LP, this features the same cover as Gone LP 5012, with the original label and
number rather crudely erased and the new number printed over it. It features the original liner notes on
the
back. The jacket and record are typical of those pressed in Europe in the late 1970s and early 1980s. All
tracks are mono. In addition to the other Gone sides not included on Gone LP-5012, this also includes
some songs from the Scottie and Reprise labels. Run Little Linda/Beyond The Heartbreak/I Wish This
