Both Sides Now Stereo Newsletter has ceased regular publication, but all back issues are available. BSN was a quarterly publication for all people who buy oldies compact discs. Each issue was crammed with reviews of oldies CDs, interviews with those in the music industry who put them out, and letters from the customers who buy them. Most subscribers say they save the price of the subscription many times over, just in avoiding buying bad-quality CDs.
If you buy oldies on CD, and by "oldies" we mean any popular music that came out before the mid-1980s, this newsletter is for you. We cover rock & roll, pop music of the '40s and '50s, easy listening, rock, rockabilly, some blues, disco, and in general, anything except classical, jazz, or country (except for those artists that "crossed over" into the top-100). In general, we include any artists who had "hits" either in the US or UK; we don't usually review ultra-obscure artists who never even came close to being known by anyone except their mothers.For an encyclopedia of reviews of oldies compact discs, see our book, Oldies on CD.
