The Soul label was active from 1964 to 1978 and was intended to be the Motown outlet for blues
and
rhythm and blues recordings. The first Soul label was white with black printing, "SOUL" vertically to the
left of the center hole in purple. This label was used on 701 and 702. The second Soul label was three
shades of purple with silver printing; "SOUL" was above the center hole in white with a white box around
it.
This label was used until the end of the series. The deejay label was the same design on white with
black
print.
