Modern started as a label in 1945, and had many subsidiaries over the years. The story of the Modern label is covered in the Modern Records Story.

Yuletide was one of Modern's subsidiaries. Obviously, it specialized in Christmas music, as their slogan was "Great Sounds of Christmas." The records were issued in compatible stereo, suggesting a late-1960s issue date. They had the usual cheesy packaging, with generic jacket backs. And they certainly didn't lose a lot of sleep scratching their heads for song titles for the nine albums, they just chose a relatively small number of popular carols and issued them over and over.

The Yuletide label was light green with dark green print. "YULETIDE SERIES" was on two lines at the top of the label, bracketed by mistletoe leaves. Around the left and right edges of the label, it read, "LONG PLAYING 33 1/3 R.P.M", and at the very bottom in small print, it said, "Printed in U.S.A." On the bottom of the back of the record jacket, the label's address was given as 5810 S. Normandie Ave., Los Angeles, California 90044. Interestingly, the copy of the album we obtained for this label (YS-212), has no markings whatsoever in the dead wax area, not even a master number, but the vinyl appears to be the same as used by the other Modern/Crown labels.
