Jubilee Album Discography, Part 3 (1962-1966): 5000 Series
by David Edwards and Mike Callahan
Last update: July 28, 2012

The forth Jubilee label began about the time of the change in numbering system to the 5000 series. The label is glossy black with silver printing, "jubilee" in white in a black oval which is surrounded with different colored spikes, the oval is large with the spikes reaching to the center hole. For those albums known to have been issued in stereo, the stereo prefix (JGS-) is used in the discography below. For those known to have been issued in mono only, the mono prefix is used and the fact that it was a mono-only issue is noted. For those albums where we do not have information about stereo release, we have left the mono prefix, but have not stated it was a mono-only LP.

We would appreciate any additions or corrections to this discography. Just send them to us via e-mail. Both Sides Now Publications is an information web page. [Notes: "Jakes Song" was based on "Sam's Song" by Elliott Quadling, "Tsimished" was based on "Bewitched" by Rogers & Hart, and the Lee Tully sides were originally released on Banner 78's. "Essen" was slightly edited; on the original 78, side one ends with "mir raket zach & mir baket zach; that's enough on that side, now turn it over to the other" referring to sun-bathing in a rocking chair, but also to the record itself... it took up 2 sides of a 10" record. For LP release, the line ended at "mir baket zach" and went straight into side 2. "Yiddish Punctuation" is just Victor Borge's "Phonetic Punctuation" translated into Yiddish. According to J.B. Morris' Allan Sherman discography, the Sherman sides were released on 78 rpm in 1951.]
