Fantasy Album Discography, Part 3:
3300/8046 to 8431 (1960-1972)

By David Edwards, Mike Callahan, Patrice Eyries, Randy Watts and Tim Neely
Last update: November 15, 2010

The Main Series that started with Fantasy 3200 continued until 1972, with 8431 [3431]. Fantasy continued issuing colored vinyl records until about the end of 1962, when they switched to black vinyl releases. Starting with #3342, Fantasy fixed the mono/stereo numbering mismatch by jumping the stereo catalog sequence to 8342, making the last three digits match for mono and stereo releases from that point onward. At the beginning of 1968, Fantasy, like other labels, discontinued issuing monaural discs in favor of all stereo releases "playable on modern mono phonographs."

The mono issues on this page used the red or dark red Fantasy label shown at far left. The stereo issues on this page used the blue Fantasy Stereo label shown at near left.
