Crestview Album Discography
By Mike Callahan, David Edwards, and Patrice Eyries
Last update: January 23, 2006

Crestview was a short-lived folk subsidiary of Elektra Records, releasing two albums that we know of, both in 1963. The record jackets stated, "CRESTVIEW RECORDS, a division of the ELEKTRA CORPORATION, 51 W. 51st Street, New York 19, New York."

The albums seemed to be issued to promote folk music in general. The blurb on the back of the jackets states, among other things, that "Five record companies have consistently tried to record the best [folk music] there is, and their catalogs are worthy of your attention: Folkways Records..., Elektra Records..., Vanguard Records..., Tradition Records..., Prestige Records.... A subscription to SING OUT is also highly recommended." It gives addresses for all the labels and Sing Out.

This label is not to be confused with a later label of the same name, run by Fred Smith, which reissued Mira/Mirwood material such as Bob and Earl.

The Crestview label was red with black printing and a silver lion logo at the top.
