Kapp Album Discography, Part 1Kapp began issuing albums on both 10" and 12" formats in 1954, their first year of operation. By
that time, the 10" format was already dying, so after a mere four releases, Kapp abandoned the 10" size
and concentrated on 12" albums. The first record jackets were thick cardboard with a heavy paper inner
sleeve.
The first label was a dark maroon with a silver edge band. Most scans of this label seen today on the
internet erroneously appear medium brown with a silver band due to scanner inaccuracies.

Promotional albums (far left) used a white label with a red (sometimes dark-red-to-almost-brown) edge ring, similar to the commercial label but different colors. In the UK, Kapp albums were generally issued on the London label (near left), with a notation they were recorded by Kapp, New York. |
