OLDIES on CD: THE BOOK...

Oldies on CD is a 450+ page consumer's guide, an 8"x11" book listing "oldie" songs that have been issued on compact disc. It tells you what CDs have your favorite songs, and more importantly, how they sound. Like other consumer guides, Oldies on CD is an independently published guide not affiliated with any of the record companies. If the CD sounds good, we tell you. If it sounds bad, we let you know what's wrong with the sound of the CD in no uncertain terms. A sample of the types of reviews we provide is available by clicking on reviews.

Over 3500 CDs have been completely reviewed as to content, mono/stereo content of each track on the CD, and the sound quality. Over 6500 more CDs are listed and have have some information given. In all, there are over 10,000 oldies CDs listed here, both domestic and imports.

Some oldies CDs are mastered from old 45s or albums or even cassette tapes, while others are mastered from crystal clear studio tapes. You can't tell the difference from the packaging in the stores, but Oldies on CD will tell you in plain English what you're getting, before you buy it. CD prices being what they are, you can't afford to buy bad sounding CDs! This book will pay for itself if you avoid wasting your money on even 2 or 3 bad CDs, and after that, it keeps on saving you money.

The book contains information on records by artists that made the US and British popular, rock, and soul charts before 1986. It covers all the classics of early rock and roll, the '60s, the '70s, and the early '80s. For those who like easy listening music, it also covers pop music of the '50s, '40s and sometimes even earlier. [It does not cover jazz or country oldies if they did not cross over to the pop charts.]

What's unique about Oldies on CD? For one thing, all the songs found on multiple-artist CDs are listed individually by artist, over 36,000 songs in all. No longer will you have to wonder what CD that favorite obscure oldie is on - it's all here and absolutely nowhere else!

How accurate is Oldies on CD? When you get Oldies on CD, you're buying the reference book the pros use. Dick Bartley, who runs two nationally syndicated oldies shows (American Gold and Rock & Roll's Greatest Hits) on ABC Radio Networks called it "the most accurate and authoritative resource available." Because you can trust it, Oldies on CD is also a favorite with oldies fans who just like to listen: it's sold to people who like oldies in over 30 countries!
